Tim went back to work after a week off. He enjoys coming home holding the boy right away.

He stares at us while we talk to him.

He loves being swaddled.

He falls asleep better and sleeps longer in a swaddle. He always gets his arms out though
.

Jackson had his first real bath in the sink. He loves bath time. The water calms him down and he just relaxes. We do baths every other night before bedtime.

We got home from the hospital the day after Jackson was born around 7:30pm. It was so mice to be home. We walked Jackson around the house and he met his sister-cat, Maybe.

Jackson in his crib for the first time.

He was jaundice and needed biliblankets, so he was a little glow worm for a few days. They were a pain and made it difficult to hold him. We did a little happy dance when we got the call that he didn’t need them anymore. It really felt like he was home then. we got to hold him without those crazy cords.

I really didn’t mean to write so much. Once I started, I wanted to get down as much detail as I could remember. So, here is little Jackson’s birth story…
I never wrote out an official birth plan. I thought that I would be disappointed if Jackson’s birth didn’t go the way I put it down on paper. All I knew was that I wanted: to go into labor on my own, a vaginal delivery, labor at home for a while, would probably want an epidural, and Tim by my side the whole way. I also had to have my sister with me. She is a labor and delivery nurse and I trust her completely – with everything. Seriously, I call her all the time for medical advice
. I hoped that things would progress naturally. I thought I would figure out what I wanted with Tim, my sister, and my doctor at the hospital.
I did have some concerns and fears. I was terrified of being induced or needing a c-section. I have never had any surgery and my body freaks out when it comes to medical stuff. I was worried that I would pass out or need be put out during a c-section and miss everything. Looking back I wish I had just let all that go. However Jackson came would be ok. As long as he was healthy, it would all be fine!
I joked a lot that I would go way past my due date. I did want him to get all the time he needed in my womb. The last couple weeks I was ok with him still in my belly, that is until May 16th, the day before his due date. It was a Sunday and I remember laying in bed and having this very relaxed feeling come over. I was ready for my little boy. I just had to wait for it. I hoped and prayed that things would start to happen that night.
That night was uneventful. Monday came and I was excited and hoped something would happen. I had a few random contractions and my back was hurting. Tuesday came and I was a little bummed. We had our 40 week appointment and this is where I break down…

Born May 22, 2010 at 5:08 am. Weighing 7lb 3oz, Measuring 19 inches.

He is everything we hoped for. We are so in love with this kid and can’t wait to share more about him!
…ya know..when we find time between feedings, diapering, taking naps…
We began the process of turning the second bedroom into a nursery a few weeks ago. I had to fun job of organizing and finding new places for everything that was in that room. Man, we had a ton of junk! It was nice to get rid of things out we didn’t need. Unfortunately our desk was too big to fit anywhere else in the house. We stored it in the garage and bought a smaller desk that fits perfectly in the dinning room. I didn’t like the idea of a dinning/office space at first, but we use our desk top more now, win-win-win
.

We also picked a color for the walls and Tim painted a couple weekends ago. It took many paint swatches and six paint samples to find the perfect shade of blue. We are both so picky about colors, but a sale made us make up our minds quick. It is a nice light pale blue. We are accenting with black/brown furniture and splashes of green, blue, and a bit of orange. We already purchased the dresser and chair from Ikea and we are keeping the office bookcase in the room. Just last weekend we bought the crib and mattress. Tim’s parents kindly helped us bring it home. I will have to take new pictures soon to show those too. Now that the paint fumes have settled it is time to decorate!

We found out at our 20 week ultrasound that we are having a little boy! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!
Now the fun begins…shopping, decorating, picking a name, and getting everything ready for this little one to arrive!

We are expecting our first baby! We are thrilled and can’t wait to meet our little one May 2010!
