I took a photo of Jackson without checking the settings…it was way over exposed. I didn’t delete it right away like I usually do. When I it on the computer I was glad I didn’t! I rarely get good shots of his eyes and they usually look darker because of the setting I have it on. Anyway, I thought it was cool I got this shot. His eyes were a dark grey/blue when he was born. They always look a different color to me. They defiantly look like they are turning brown here…or maybe they will turn green? I love them!

Jackson James is a six month old! Half a year! I can’t even believe it has been this long. Just six months ago I had a little newborn and he has grown into this amazing little baby.

He is still loving sitting up. When he wants a toy out of reach he falls onto his tummy to get it. When we put him on the hard wood floor he turns in circles on his tummy. He just started pushing up onto his knees. Pretty soon this boy will be crawling! Oh, boy. We really need to baby proof! We keep putting it off…

Jackson is wearing 6 month clothes and some 9 months sleepers. We switched to size 3 diapers. We couldn’t get an appointment today, so we go next week.

I started putting him in his crib during nap time. He learned to sooth himself! I couldn’t believe it. Sometimes he goes right to sleep and sometimes it takes a while. I go in and to calm him down and then he finally falls asleep. He takes two naps in his room during the day and still sleeps in the co-sleeper next to me at night.

We gave him solids for the first time today! I made him a sweet potato puree. He didn’t really care for it. He was off with his naps today and he wasn’t in a great mood. He didn’t really open his mouth to try it and when he did taste it he gave us a silly look. He was much more interested in the spoon!

Jackson usually wakes me up in the morning. A couple times. Around 3am for a feeding and then up for the day around 7:30am. I wake up to Jackson talking. It starts out quiet. Little oohhh’s and ahhh’s. I know he is awake, but I’m not ready to open my eyes. Then the little ahhh’s become a bit louder. Aaahhh aaaahhhHHHHHHH!! I look over and he is looking at me through the mesh of the co-sleeper. Once we make eye contact, that is it. He wants out. So, I take him out, change him, feed him. Then we spend some time just hanging out. He looks at the ceiling fan though the mirror. I give him some toys and he plays while I really wake up. The light is always best in the morning in my bedroom, so I try to have my camera ready. He was being extra sweet this day.

The little dude is 4 months old today! He started grabbing his toes and rolling over this month! He is laughing everyday and is getting more and more ticklish. He is wearing 3 and some 3-6 month clothes. This last week he has been a good sleeper…I hope he keeps it up . Tomorrow is his 4 month check up. We will see what he weighs and how much he has grown. More shots, too. His 2 month shots made him very fussy and upset, so I’m preparing myself in case these do too.

A sweet little moment from today: After feeding him I changed his diaper and he laid on the couch for like 30 minutes with me. He grabbed his toes and looked around at everything. When he started to rub his eyes, I picked him up and danced around with him. Instead of holding himself (like he always does) he just put his head against me and looked up at my face. He ended up falling asleep while I held him close dancing around the living room. He has been such a sweetheart today.

I try to take a walk everyday. Somedays though, I just don’t want to go out in the heat. I can’t wait for cooler weather!

Jackson loves being outside. He watches the trees and houses from his Bugaboo as we navigate through our little community. The bumps and jiggles of the sidewalk can calm him down instantly. When the pavilion is empty we park the stroller and sit on the couch. There is always a nice cool breeze and Jackson licks the air. We sit and he soaks it all in or I rock him to sleep if he is fussy. There is a bench we always sit at, it is in front of a huge tree. Jackson stares at the branches and leaves.

For me, it is nice to get out of the house. I listen to music or a podcast in one ear and watch Jackson looking around. When we are having a difficult day a walk helps clear my head and gives Jackson something new to look at.

Jackson is 3 months old today! This is his monthly photo. He is growing so fast! He weighs 14 pounds and is wearing 3 month clothes. He sucks his thumbs like crazy, is talking up a storm, he’s giggled once, and drools on everything. We are having fun and loving every minute of it.

Seriously, this is the last quick catch up. It is hard not to share every photo of Jackson from the last 3 months!

The weekends tend to look like this…baby, husband, coffee, breakfast cooking, pajamas well into the afternoon, and the camera or video camera always in reach.

We decided to at least get out once during the weekend. We went to Downtown Disney a few weeks ago. Jackson did well in his stroller, but needed some quiet time after a while.

I can’t believe Jackson is almost 3 months now. He is getting big (just check out those chunky monkey thighs!) and doing so many new things. He constantly sucks his thumb, fingers, fist, our fingers, his blanket, any toy we put near him. He is drooling like crazy (man, I’m hoping he isn’t teething just yet). He has giggled once. Always needs to see what is going on. Watches tv…no, we don’t sit him in front of it :p. He’s talking more and more, now he yells out his aaahh’s and oooo’s. Maybes not very exciting things, but for us, every new thing deserves a photo or video

He is learning to self-sooth. After a few minutes of fussing he finds his thumb and is content for a bit longer. He enjoys the activity mat, so I move it around while I try to get things done.

We are starting to see patterns with sleeping and eating. He sleeps well most nights, only waking up 1-2 times to eat, then falls right back to sleep. He takes many short naps in the morning, is up for a while in the early afternoon and takes a longer nap later in the afternoon and before going down for the night. He cluster feeds in the morning and before bed, but there is usually 2-3 hours between feedings. I find myself just watching him sleep a lot. He always looks so peaceful…

That pretty much covers the last few months!

We did lots of tummy time. Jackson can only handle a few minutes at a time.
