Favorite comfort recipe

Well…I don’t have the actual recipe. I started making it for Tim when we were dating and after we got married – I’ve made it almost every week since. I can’t even remember where I got the recipe from. I know it was more involved than how I make it now. Basically it is pasta (usually penne), pasta sauce, Italian cheese blend or mozzarella, broccoli, zucchini and chicken. I used to make everything separate and time it all right. I just don’t care to do it perfect anymore. I cook a chicken breast then cut it into pieces, cook some pasta, throw in the veggies halfway until tender, mix everything together with the sauce, toss it in a dish, top it with cheese and put it in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Nothing special, but we love it!

So. Tired.

Oh man. I am so tired.

Jackson is napping in his swing (finally). I have lots of things to do (laundry, dishes, clean the bathrooms, SLEEP). What am I doing instead? Sitting at the computer, not really doing anything at all. I don’t even feel like walking 15 feet to the couch to take a nap…

Tomorrow…will be better?

Walks around the neighborhood

I try to take a walk everyday. Somedays though, I just don’t want to go out in the heat. I can’t wait for cooler weather!

Jackson loves being outside. He watches the trees and houses from his Bugaboo as we navigate through our little community. The bumps and jiggles of the sidewalk can calm him down instantly. When the pavilion is empty we park the stroller and sit on the couch. There is always a nice cool breeze and Jackson licks the air. We sit and he soaks it all in or I rock him to sleep if he is fussy. There is a bench we always sit at, it is in front of a huge tree. Jackson stares at the branches and leaves.

For me, it is nice to get out of the house. I listen to music or a podcast in one ear and watch Jackson looking around. When we are having a difficult day a walk helps clear my head and gives Jackson something new to look at.

3 Months old!

Jackson is 3 months old today! This is his monthly photo. He is growing so fast! He weighs 14 pounds and is wearing 3 month clothes. He sucks his thumbs like crazy, is talking up a storm, he’s giggled once, and drools on everything. We are having fun and loving every minute of it.

Lucas And Elana

LukeandLani 1574

This week Tim and I had to say goodbye to his brother and sister. They both graduated in May and now they are off to college. Lucas to ASU and Elana to WIU. It’s always hard to say goodbye to people you love. Of course, it isn’t goodbye, just see you soon. But, that doesn’t make it any easier. We are so proud of them both and so excited for this new part of their lives. We can’t wait to Skype with them and hear all about their new schools and new adventures.

We love you guys!

Aaaaand we’re back!

So, it took a couple months, but we are ready to start posting!

Visit to The Huntington

Tim took me to The Huntington Library, Museums, and Botanical Gardens a couple weeks ago. It has always been a special place for me, and it is even more special since he proposed there too.

Here are some photos from the day…
